Ok guys, I have a secret: I found a way to cure your Moody Mondays. Instead of drinking away the Sunday Scaries, I spend my Sunday night packing my running clothes and shoes, and getting excited for Monday night‘s SurfYogaBeer Run Club.
SYB is a group that hosts retreats around the world (they just got back from the Amalfi Coast!) doing exactly what their name says– sounds pretty perfect right?? I totally had FOMO for not being able to attend the retreats, but I was really excited to find out that SYB also puts on local events in NYC and California, and of course I signed up for the Run Club as soon as it started!
So every Monday in the summer we meet at 7pm along the Hudson River for a 1.5 – 3 mile run, with a short and sweet little strength and stretch session, before watching the sunset and enjoying beers and watermelon water together. Yup, heaven. They just started hosting a Wednesday morning run too, and they squeeze in two short ab-focused bootcamps. I’m definitely motivated to wake up early to work out with this crew!
While the run always leaves me feeling great about squeezing a workout in, it’s really the people that keep me coming back. Everyone is so like-minded, and we all just want to have fun! I’ve met so many energetic, inspiring people through SYB and rave about it so much that I’ve recruited a couple people to Run Club too 🙂 Making friends can be hard in NYC, and I wish I found this crew when I first moved here!
Run Club membership for new members to join is now dropped to $50 flat rate as we reach our half-way through summer mark. But you get a shirt, drinks and snacks, and a great sweat 2x a week!
