FITNESS TRAVEL,
BUILT IN DAILY
Short version: we started as a fitness retreat company, and fitness never left. Now it is a daily morning ritual on every trip, wrapped inside surf, yoga, and a week you actually want to be on.
Fitness travel means going somewhere active and keeping your body moving while you do it. SurfYogaBeer is exactly that: fitness trips built around a daily morning workout, plus surf, yoga, and a boat day, all handled. We literally began as a fitness retreat company, so training is in our DNA. Today it is not the whole agenda, it is the thing that kicks off each day and keeps you sharp for everything else. Average traveler is 34, most arrive solo, and the workouts are optional and scalable, so you set the intensity. From $1,950 a week, everything on the ground included.
Fitness Travel vs a Traditional Fitness Retreat
Both are great. They are just built for different weeks.
| SurfYogaBeer | Traditional Fitness Retreat | |
|---|---|---|
| The vibe | Active and social, fitness woven into a fun week | Structured, fitness is the whole agenda |
| Daily fitness | A morning workout, plus surf and yoga | Multiple training blocks a day |
| Intensity | Optional and scalable, never punishing | Often high and fixed |
| The point | Adventure, people, and staying fit | Results and a hard reset |
| Best for | People who want to move and still have a blast | People chasing an intense fitness week |
We Started as a Fitness Retreat
Here is the origin story. SurfYogaBeer began as a fitness retreat company, the kind where the morning bootcamp was the main event and the whole week was built around training. Over the years the trips grew into something bigger: surf, yoga, adventure, and a tight social crew. But the fitness never went anywhere. It just found its right size. Instead of the entire agenda, the workout became the daily ritual that starts the day, the thing that makes the surf better, the food taste earned, and the group bond faster. If you came to us years ago for a sweat, you would still recognize the energy. We just wrapped a great trip around it.
How Fitness Works on a Trip Now
Every SurfYogaBeer trip has a morning workout built into the daily rhythm. Think a 30 to 45 minute session led by our crew: bodyweight strength, circuits, core, a beach or rooftop bootcamp with a view. Then the day opens up into surf lessons, yoga, a boat day, and beach time. You move in the morning, you play all day, and the social part takes care of itself. It is fitness travel without the grind: enough to feel strong and stay in rhythm, not so much that you spend your vacation wrecked. Most people who do not even think of themselves as gym people end up loving the morning session, because it is social, scenic, and over before the day gets hot.
Do You Have to Be Fit to Come?
No. This is the question we get most, and the answer is a clear no. The morning workout is optional and fully scalable, so you push as hard or as easy as you want, and the surf and yoga meet you at your level too. You do not need to be an athlete, you just need to be up for moving and trying. People in their late twenties through forties, all shapes and starting points, do these trips every week. If fitness is exactly why you are nervous, read our honest take on whether you have to be fit for a surf retreat. Short answer there is also no.

Fitness Travel FAQ
What is fitness travel?
Fitness travel means taking a trip that keeps you active instead of sedentary, with movement built into the days. On a SurfYogaBeer trip that looks like a daily morning workout plus surf, yoga, and a boat day, so you stay in rhythm while you explore and socialize.
Is SurfYogaBeer a fitness retreat?
We started as one. SurfYogaBeer began as a fitness retreat company, and fitness is still part of every trip as a daily morning workout. The difference now is that training is the ritual that starts the day rather than the entire agenda, with surf, yoga, adventure, and a social crew built around it.
Do you work out every day on the trips?
Yes. Every trip has a morning workout built into the daily rhythm, usually a 30 to 45 minute bodyweight or circuit session led by our crew. It is optional and scalable, so you choose the intensity, and the rest of the day is surf, yoga, and beach time.
Do I have to be fit to come?
No. The morning workout and the surf and yoga are all optional and scalable, so you set your own level. Travelers of all fitness backgrounds, average age 34, do these trips every week. You need to be up for moving and trying, not athletic.
What does a typical fitness day look like?
A morning workout to start: bodyweight strength, a circuit, or a beach bootcamp, around 30 to 45 minutes. Then surf lessons, yoga, a boat day, beach time, and a social evening. You move in the morning and play the rest of the day.
Which trips include fitness?
All of them. Every SurfYogaBeer trip, from Nicaragua to Bali to Croatia, includes the daily morning workout along with surf and yoga. Fitness is part of the core format, not a paid add-on.

A daily morning workout, surf, yoga, a boat day, and a crew you keep. We started in fitness, and it still runs through every trip. From $1,950, all handled.
