Top 3 iconic moments

Three things you will do on this trip that you will still be talking about years later.

01SurfYogaBeer guest with a rescued baby elephant at the Sheldrick orphanage in KenyaBaby elephant orphanage

A childhood dream with a bottle in its mouth. You meet orphaned elephants rescued from all over Kenya, hear their stories, watch them roll in the mud, and you can adopt one before you leave.

02SurfYogaBeer guest hand feeding a giraffe in KenyaFeeding giraffes by hand

At the Giraffe Centre you stand nose to nose with a Rothschild giraffe and feed it out of your own hand. They are taller than you think, their tongues are longer than you think, and everyone leaves with the same photo and the same grin.

03Lions in the Masai Mara on a SurfYogaBeer game driveThree full days in the Mara

Your National Geographic moment, and not a rushed one. Three full days across 583 square miles with ex ranger guides who know every hidden track, picnic lunches under a tree, and the Big Five doing exactly what they do.

📅 The day by day

Seven days. Every single one of them optional.

SurfYogaBeer crew on a walk in Kenya
Day 1Land in Nairobi

Airport pickup, welcome cocktail, a shake out walk and the sauna.

The full day

We pick you up at the airport and get you checked in so you can breathe after the flight. Meet by the pool for a welcome cocktail and lunch, unpack, then walk to the trails of the Nairobi Arboretum for an easy shake out workout. Straight into the eucalyptus steam room and sauna, then our first family dinner and orientation.

Lodge grounds at Lake Naivasha, Kenya
Day 2Elephants, giraffes, Naivasha

Two bucket list stops, then the coolest hotel you will ever check into.

The full day

Early to rise, early to work out, early to eat, because we are checking out of Nairobi and heading into the adventure. First stop the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where you play with and maybe adopt a baby elephant. Lunch in Karen, then the Giraffe Centre to hand feed our new long necked friends. Then we drive out of the city to Lake Naivasha. Fair warning: you will see hippos tonight.

SurfYogaBeer group biking through Hell's Gate National Park in Kenya
Day 3Hell's Gate and hippos

A bike safari through Lion King country, then a boat full of hippos.

The full day

We start with a quiet nature walk on the hotel grounds before breakfast, and you might spot zebra or waterbuck grazing next to you. Then Hell's Gate National Park for a bike safari, out of the 4x4 and into the landscape that inspired The Lion King. Lunch back at the hotel, a drink to settle the nerves, then the hippo boat tour. Tonight we turn it all the way up with a theme party by the fire.

SurfYogaBeer guests visiting a Masai village in Kenya
Day 4Into the Masai Mara

Our own great migration, then the Masai village.

The full day

After a sleep in and a cappuccino we pack up and make our own great migration to the Masai Mara. The hours in the 4x4 land cruisers turn into get to know you games and the kind of conversations that only happen on a long drive. We check in at 2pm and head straight to the Masai village to meet the community, learn the culture and browse the souvenir stalls.

Day 5Full day game drive

Sunrise to sunset across 583 square miles.

The full day

Today is an all day excursion through the Masai Mara. We drive off trail while our guides hunt for wildlife across a park the size of a small country, watching for the famous predators and everything they chase, plus a stop at the Mara river for the crocodiles. Picnic lunch under a tree overlooking the plains. Bring a spare battery, you will need it. Then back to the lodge for a big dinner and a very good night's sleep.

Day 6Rise above the Mara

The optional balloon at 4:30am that nobody regrets.

The full day

The hot air balloon is optional and very highly recommended. Up at 4:30am, air still cool, long before sunrise. We drive deep into the Mara and watch the balloon inflate, and as we rise so does the sun. Elephants grazing, lions hunting, and the only sound is silence. You land to a bottomless champagne breakfast on the plains, then a morning safari. Back at camp we prep for the final game drive, then the party.

Day 7Back to Nairobi

One more sunrise game drive, then a flight over the plains.

The full day

Last day, best day. Pack a day bag for an early morning game drive, then after lunch we head to the airstrip for the one hour domestic flight back to Nairobi, included in your trip. Depending on your flight you can take our shuttle to the airport or head to Cultiva Farms, the farm to table spot everyone talks about. We recommend flying out after 8pm. Then the group chat starts, and it never really goes quiet again.

Every day is optional. Do all of it, or sleep in and meet us at lunch.

FAQs

Because this is more than just a safari.

Yes, you’ll see incredible wildlife. But you’ll also be moving your body, exploring different parts of Kenya, and sharing the whole experience with a great group of people.

It’s a more active, more social way to travel. You don’t just see it, you’re part of it.

Yes, and most people do.

The trips are designed so it’s easy to meet people quickly. Between workouts, meals, and shared experiences, you naturally connect.

You can show up on your own and feel part of the group right away.

People who like to stay active, try new things, and be around others.

Typically:

  • Late 20s to 40s (sometimes even 50s)
  • Social, open-minded
  • Looking for something more engaging than a typical vacation

It’s a mix, but the common thread is good energy.

Yes.

You’ll be working out, biking, walking, and generally staying on the move throughout the trip.

That said, everything is flexible. You can go at your own pace and still get a lot out of it.

Relaxed, social, and well organized.

There’s structure to the days, but it never feels rigid. You’ll have time to take things in, but also plenty of shared moments with the group.

You’ll move through a few key areas:

  • Nairobi
  • Lake Naivasha
  • Masai Mara

Each stop brings something different, from city energy to open landscapes to full safari.

With us, it is.

Kenya is one of the most established safari destinations in the world, with a long history of tourism and well-developed infrastructure in the areas we visit.

We work closely with the same trusted local team and guides we’ve partnered with for over 5 years. They know the regions, the logistics, and how to run this experience smoothly and safely.

Throughout the trip, everything is organized in advance, from transportation to accommodations to activities, so you’re never navigating things on your own.

Like any international travel, awareness and common sense go a long way, but you’re fully supported from the moment you land.

Yes.

We capture the trip so you can stay present and enjoy it without worrying about documenting everything yourself.

If you enjoy being active, meeting new people, and trying something different, it likely is.

If you’re looking for a quiet, fully independent, or purely luxury experience, it may not be the best fit.
