no dumb questions
Questions? Good.
Everything people ask us before they book. If it's not here, text a human. An actual one.
01
The Basics
Who we are, and whether this is your kind of trip.
โจWhat makes SurfYogaBeer different?+
We sit between a retreat and a group tour, but really, we're neither. Every trip is built around three things: movement, connection, and experience.
You're not just sightseeing. You're working out, exploring, eating well, and spending the week with a group that quickly feels like a crew.
We design and run everything ourselves. No white-label trips, no outsourcing. Our leaders are trained through the SYB Academy and know how to create real connection, not just lead activities.
๐คIs SurfYogaBeer right for me?+
If you like the idea of staying active, meeting new people, exploring new places, and being part of a group experience, then yes.
If you prefer fully independent travel or a very slow, quiet trip, it may not be the best fit. We'd rather tell you that now.
๐Which trip should I choose?+
Depends what you're after:
- Nicaragua: best overall experience, and the easiest first trip to say yes to
- Croatia: most social and energetic
- Turkey: most relaxing
- Philippines: most nature-driven
- Iceland: most adventurous
- Bali: most variety

๐What's the average age?+
Most people are between their late 20s and early 40s, with some in their 50s.
The common thread isn't age, it's mindset.
๐How do I actually book?+
Find your trip on the calendar, pick your dates, and check out with a 20% deposit. That's it, your spot is locked.
The balance is due 6 weeks before you fly, and we walk you through everything in between.
02
Money Stuff
What you pay, what it covers, what happens if plans change.
๐ฐWhat's included in the price?+
The essentials are always covered: accommodation, most meals, planned activities and experiences, and group transport during the trip. Once you land, you're taken care of.
Not included: flights, travel insurance, and whatever you spend in your own free time.
The full breakdown lives on each trip page, and every upcoming date is on the trip calendar.
๐ณHow do deposits, payments, and cancellations work?+
Booking: a 20% deposit reserves your spot and goes toward your total. Some trips offer limited $0-down payment plans.
Balance: due 6 weeks before the trip starts. Book inside that window and full payment is due at checkout.
All payments are non-refundable.
Cancel more than 45 days out: you get a one-time trip credit for the amount paid, usable within 12 months on any future trip date.
Cancel within 45 days: your payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Travel and medical insurance is required, and it's the best way to protect your trip if life happens.
๐ก๏ธDo you offer travel insurance?+
No. SurfYogaBeer does not provide or sell travel insurance.
We strongly recommend buying a policy from a provider of your choice to cover cancellations, medical emergencies, delays, or lost baggage. Read it carefully before purchasing so it actually fits your needs.
03
The Vibe
The stuff you're actually wondering about.
๐งโ๐คโ๐งCan I come solo?+
Yes, and most people do.
Trips are designed for solo travelers. Between workouts, meals, and shared experiences, it's easy to meet people fast. By day two, it usually feels like a crew.
๐ฏCan I bring a friend or partner?+
Of course. Solo is the norm, but plenty of people bring a friend or partner.
Want to room together? Just tell us when you book and we'll set it up.
๐๏ธโโ๏ธDo I need to be super fit?+
No. All fitness levels are welcome. Workouts are encouraged, not required.
Push yourself or take it easy. Our leaders adjust everything so you feel comfortable joining in. It's about showing up, not being the fittest person there.
๐Do I need to know how to surf or ski?+
No. Most people show up as total beginners.
Surf trips are built for first-timers, ski weeks have terrain and options for every level, and nothing is mandatory. You set your own pace.
๐ฅHow many people are on each trip?+
Most trips run 12 to 40 people, depending on the destination.
Smaller trips feel tight and personal. Larger trips bring more energy and variety. Either way, the group comes together quickly.
๐นWhat's the alcohol culture like?+
Social, but never required.
Some people drink, some don't. There's no pressure either way. You'll fit in regardless.
๐ก๏ธAre trips safe?+
With us, they are.
We work with trusted local partners in every destination and plan everything in advance, from transport to activities. You're never navigating things on your own.
04
Logistics
Flights, rooms, packing, and the practical stuff.
โ๏ธWhat flights should I book?+
Each trip page lists specific arrival and departure recommendations. In general:
- Arrive on the first day before the group start time
- Leave on the final day after the recommended departure window
After booking, we guide you through everything and help you plan it properly.
๐๏ธHow do rooms work?+
Most rooms are shared by default, paired with someone of the same gender unless you request otherwise.
Coming solo? This is one of the easiest ways to meet people early.
Private rooms are limited and available on most trips as an upgrade.
๐ฌWhat happens after I book?+
You get a confirmation right away. From there:
- ~6 weeks out: travel info and prep
- ~2 to 3 weeks out: final details plus the group chat
You'll know exactly what to expect before you arrive.
๐Do I need a visa or passport?+
You always need a valid passport, and some destinations require a visa depending on your nationality.
Visa rules change by country and by the passport you hold, so checking requirements before booking flights is your responsibility.
Not sure where to start? Reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.
๐What should I pack?+
Enough to move, explore, and relax, without overpacking.
After you book, we send a trip-specific packing list for your destination and activities.
In general: comfy activewear, swimwear, something for the evenings, and good energy. We handle the rest of the details before you go.
๐ฅWhat if I have dietary needs or allergies?+
We've got you.
Tell us your dietary needs or allergies after booking and we'll sort it with our local partners. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies, whatever it is, just give us a heads up in advance.

Typical group size is 12 to 30 people
Most SurfYogaBeer trips run with 12 to 30 travelers, and the exact number depends on the trip and the season. Big enough that there is always somebody up for the early surf and somebody up for the late dinner, small enough that you know everyone by the second day. Average age is 34, most travelers are 28 to 42, the minimum age is 21, and the majority book alone.
