Frequently asked questions

We sit between a retreat and a group tour, but really, we’re neither.

Every trip is built around three things:

  • Movement
  • Connection
  • Experience

You’re not just sightseeing. You’re working out, exploring, eating well, and spending the week with a group that quickly feels like a crew.

We design and run everything ourselves. No white-label trips. No outsourcing. Our leaders are trained through our SYB Academy and know how to create real connection, not just lead activities.

It’s structured enough to feel full, but open enough to actually enjoy it.

It depends on the trip, but the essentials are always covered.

Every trip includes your accommodation, most meals, and the planned activities and experiences on the itinerary. Group transport during the trip is sorted too, so once you land, you’re taken care of.

Not included: flights, travel insurance, and whatever you spend in your own free time.

The full breakdown lives on each trip page, so check there for the exact details.

To reserve your spot, you’ll typically pay a 20% deposit, which goes toward your total trip cost.

In some cases, we offer limited payment plans with $0 down, depending on the trip.

The remaining balance is due 6 weeks before your trip start date. If you book within that window, full payment is required at checkout.

All payments are non-refundable.

If you cancel more than 45 days before the trip, you’ll receive a one-time trip credit for the amount paid

This credit must be used within 12 months, but the trip you apply it to can be for any future date.

If you cancel within 45 days, your payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Travel and medical insurance is required and is the best way to protect your trip if anything unexpected comes up.

No. SurfYogaBeer does not provide or sell travel insurance.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance from a provider of your choice to help protect your trip against unexpected events such as cancellations, medical emergencies, travel delays, or lost baggage.

Please review any policy carefully to ensure it meets your needs before purchasing.

No.

All fitness levels are welcome. Workouts are encouraged, not required.

You can push yourself or take it easy. Our leaders adjust everything so you feel comfortable joining in.

It’s about showing up, not being the fittest person there.

Each trip has specific arrival and departure recommendations listed on the trip page.

In general:

  • Arrive on the first day before the group start time
  • Leave on the final day after the recommended departure window

After booking, we guide you through everything and help you plan it properly.

Most rooms are shared by default unless you upgrade to a private option.

You’ll be paired with someone of the same gender unless you request otherwise.

If you’re coming solo, this is one of the easiest ways to meet people early.

Private rooms are limited and available on most trips.

Most trips range from 12 to 40 people, depending on the destination.

Smaller trips feel tight and personal. Larger trips bring more energy and variety.

Either way, the group comes together quickly.

You’ll receive a confirmation right away.

From there:

  • ~6 weeks out → travel info and prep
  • ~2–3 weeks out → final details + group chat

You’ll know exactly what to expect before you arrive.

Yes, and most people do.

Trips are designed for solo travelers. Between workouts, meals, and shared experiences, it’s easy to meet people quickly.

By the second day, it usually feels like a group.

Social, but not required.

Some people drink, some don’t. There’s no pressure either way.

You’ll fit in regardless.

If you like the idea of:

  • Staying active
  • Meeting new people
  • Exploring new places
  • Being part of a group experience

Then yes.

If you prefer fully independent travel or a very slow, quiet trip, it may not be the best fit.

Most people are between late 20s and early 40s, with some in their 50s.

The common thread isn’t age, it’s mindset.

With us, they are.

We work with trusted local partners in every destination and plan everything in advance, from transport to activities.

You’re never navigating things on your own.

It depends on what you’re looking for:

  • Nicaragua → best overall experience
  • Croatia → most social and energetic
  • Turkey → most relaxing
  • Philippines / Palawan → most nature-driven
  • Iceland → most adventurous
  • Bali → most variety

If you’re unsure, reach out and we’ll help you choose.

You’ll always need a valid passport, and some destinations need a visa depending on your nationality.

Visa rules change by country and by the passport you hold, so checking the requirements for your destination before you book flights is always your responsibility.

Not sure where to start? Reach out and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Enough to move, explore, and relax, without overpacking.

After you book, we send a trip-specific packing list so you know exactly what to bring for your destination and the activities planned.

In general: comfy activewear, swimwear, something for the evenings, and good energy. We’ll handle the rest of the details before you go.

We’ve got you.

Tell us your dietary needs or allergies after booking and we’ll sort it with our local partners. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies, whatever it is, just give us a heads up in advance.

Got a question before you book? Message a real human on WhatsApp and we’ll help you out.

Wondering whether this is a chill wellness retreat or something more active? We broke down a surf and yoga retreat vs. a group adventure trip so you know exactly what you're signing up for.
