twice the ice
A week moving through Iceland's wild west and north under a sun that barely sets. Volcanic trails, canyon waterfalls, and hot springs by day, and a crew that turns it all into the trip of the year.
wait, what
is this exactly?
Fair question. Here is the short version. This is Iceland without the guardrails. We go beyond the tourist south coast and straight into the wild west and north, where the roads thin out, the terrain gets serious, and the days stop being predictable.
You move through lava fields, glacier valleys, and canyon-hidden waterfalls under the midnight sun, covering ground most visitors never see. Small crew, big terrain, no shortcuts. You do not need to be an athlete. You just need a decent baseline of fitness and to be up for a very good time out in it.

how we roll
This is not a one-hotel-and-day-trips kind of week. It is a proper road mission. We move in two nine-seat expedition vans, which means we stop whenever something looks unreal, get to trailheads the bus tours never reach, and cover two whole regions without wasting a day.
Reykjavik is our start and finish. In between, we base up on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in the west and then near Akureyri and Myvatn in the north, always close to the best terrain. Rooms are shared and comfortable, the stays are strategic, and after big days we come back, eat well, and actually hang together.
but here is the
syb part
Most trips up here are either bucket-list box-ticking or quiet, keep-to-yourself wellness. Ours is neither. This is SurfYogaBeer, so the adventure comes with a crew and a very good time.
Think cold plunges and hot springs after a big day on the trail, long dinners with way too much food, midnight-sun beach bonfires, themed parties, and the kind of nights that turn a van full of strangers into a proper family. You will come for the waterfalls. You will stay for the people.
the days look
something like this
reset at sky lagoon
Straight off the plane into cold plunges, steam, and ocean-side hot pools. Jetlag does not stand a chance and the crew is already bonding.
hike snaefellsnes
Coastal scrambles, ridge lines, and volcanic landscapes on the wild west peninsula. The viewpoints make you stop mid sentence.
kirkjufell + midnight sun
Our signature west mission, followed by a beach bonfire and yoga under a sun that never really sets. It feels like a movie scene.
chase the waterfalls
North to the big ones like Godafoss and Dettifoss, where the country gets more remote, more rugged, and a lot more how-is-this-real.
geothermal baths
Soak at Forest Lagoon and Myvatn Nature Baths up north, plus a final reset at Hamsvik Hot Springs. Move hard, recover hard.
the crew
Come solo, leave with a family. Most people arrive on their own. By day two you have got people, and the group chat never goes quiet.
the rough
game plan
Seven days, two regions, one crew. Here is roughly how the week tends to flow.
arrival, reset, reykjavik
We meet you at Keflavik, straight to Sky Lagoon to reset the body, then into downtown Reykjavik for our welcome dinner and a proper first night out.
west to snaefellsnes
Drive out onto the peninsula for coastal hikes and big volcanic scenery, the signature Kirkjufell mission, and a midnight-sun beach bonfire to finish.
snaefellsnes big day
More of the west at its wildest. Ridge lines, hidden waterfalls, and the kind of coastline that does not look like it should be real.
north to akureyri
Cross the country to the north and go full expedition mode. Legendary waterfalls like Godafoss, remote terrain, and earned recovery.
myvatn and the baths
Trails and viewpoints around the Myvatn region, then a long geothermal soak at Myvatn Nature Baths to melt the day out of your legs.
back south, last soak
Roll back toward Reykjavik with one final reset at Hamsvik Hot Springs, then our farewell dinner and the kind of last night nobody wants to end.
one last morning
Slow breakfast, last look at the landscape, then a transfer to Keflavik. You leave with sore legs and a crew you will be planning the next trip with.
A sample flow, not a fixed schedule. This far north, the weather always gets the final say.
