The classic SYB trip with a deeper dive into surfing

Surf Camp is our most surf-focused trip yet. You’ll surf in the morning, get personalized coaching midday, and head back out in the afternoon to lock in your progress. Whether you’re catching your first wave or refining your turns, this experience is all about building confidence and skill in the water. We’ve been running trips to Nicaragua for nearly a decade, and this one brings the surf to the spotlight while keeping everything you love about SurfYogaBeer. Group workouts, beach hangs, wild nights, and yes, a full boat day on the Pacific with your crew. This trip is for all levels. If you’re ready to go beyond a one-off surf lesson and dive into daily progress with expert coaching, Surf Camp brings it all together with the perfect mix of movement, adventure, and connection.

I think I just managed to get the last cactus needle out of my hand a couple days ago after falling into one in Nicaragua, but I wouldn’t change a thing about this beautiful week of @surfyogabeer. Exactly the break from reality that I needed. Unforgettable memories and new friends. Still working on snappin back to reality…. 📷: @erinnfortman & @sam_knollmeyer #syb #surfyogabeer #sybnicaragua #bestweekever #sunscreen #motherfuckingboatday #fitness #junglegym #beachbar #surfing #yoga #beer #pashmos #alsoshots #lotsofshots #tequila #jumplungebeerbong #alwaysorder2

So I just got back from a trip of a lifetime with some really amazing strangers who are now my friends for a lifetime ❤️ • • • Nicaragua and @surfyogabeer you have been so good to me. • • • It started out as a trip that I just thought I’d get some good workouts in and chill on a beautiful beach, but instead I got so much more out of it. The best part of it all was meeting so many new people whom I shared so much in common with. We shared laughs, tears, and stories which I’ll never forget! • • •I also had the privilege to celebrate my birthday during this time. While being so far away from home and my family I still felt such love and admiration that I will be forever thankful. ❤️ • • •Thank you 📸@martin.straschnoy for capturing these beautiful moments! #SYBNICARAGUA #SURFYOGABEER

Just wrapped up a bloody amazing trip with a group of beautiful people. I decided to go on this trip just days before it started. What a fantastic decision that ended up being. Thank you @surfyogabeer for creating such an amazing experience and big shout out to our fresh leaders: @danidellarco @lisa_ryan @radlopz @martin.straschnoy This was one for the books: The new friendships, the brekky beer club, workouts every morning on the beach, the yoga up in the sky at sunset, the dancing every night by the infinity pool/dinner table/the bar, the inside jokes, the cowboy hats, the clothes disappearing after skinny dips, not being able to find our own villas, the hikes, my pet tarantula Henry, the countless tequila shots, the deep conversations, the not so deep conversations about bleaching 🍑, the sexual hip thrust dancing, the many wenches I employed (beer, liqiour, etc), the angry yoga mama, the footage I should not have filmed but did anyways, boat day!, always being an 8 drunk, Tona virus vs. Hot Nuts, Orlando and his side hustles, tortuga frat house, SundayFunday, and making love to the beat. Love you all and can’t wait for our reunions. ❤️

@aarcentales

Last week I embarked on a bday trip to Nicaragua thanks to my brotha @iam_kevincruz and I thought it was just going to be another crazy and insane trip and man was I wrong! Of course it was insanely fun, but it was also soo much more than that! It was by far the most amazing trip I’ve ever been on and it was all due to the group we had the fortune of being on this trip with! I want to thank @surfyogabeer @danidellarco @lisa_ryan @radlopz @martin.straschnoy for leading this trip and making it what it was. I also want to give a gigantic shout-out to the most amazing group of people I’ve ever met! I didn’t think that in just 6 days I could become so close and get to know so many people on a personal basis and be so comfortable around them! There’s so much more I can write but I’ll leave it at that and just an overall thankful for the last week 🙏🙌🎉🤙!! #surfyogabeer , #sybnicaragua, #sybmarch2020, #syb2020 #nicaragua #sanjuandelsur #playamaderas #surf #yoga #beer #toñas

@exzactprice

Thank you, surf yoga beer, for affording me the opportunity to experience the most memorable and re-energizing adventure of my life. Although only spending 1 week together, I felt like I've known this group of amazing people forever, and the bonds we made will last for years to come.

Trip Notes

May 19 to 24, 2026.

That’s 6 days and 5 nights in Playa Maderas.

The trip officially begins at 6:00 PM.

We’ll organize transportation shuttles to get you from the airport to our villas, so no stress there.

You have two main options:

  • Managua, Nicaragua (MGA) – about a 2.5 hour drive
  • Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) – about a 3 hour drive with a border crossing

We recommend flying into Managua (MGA) if possible.

Try to land by 3:00 PM on arrival day so you can catch a group shuttle. We’ll build the shuttle schedule based on everyone’s flight times.

If your flight doesn’t line up, we can connect you with a trusted driver. Private transfers typically cost $125–$200 per vehicle and can fit up to four people.

For departure, we’ll organize shuttles based on flight times. Just make sure your flight is no earlier than 12:00 PM. If you’re leaving earlier, you’ll need to arrange your own transport, but we can help coordinate with others.

About six weeks before the trip, we’ll send a check-in form to collect your flight details, passport info, and anything else we need to get you there smoothly.

For most travelers, no visa is required for short stays.

You may need to pay a small entry fee on arrival and have a valid passport. We’ll send exact details after booking based on your nationality.

Yes, travel and medical insurance is required. You must secure it before joining the program. If you choose not to purchase insurance, you accept full responsibility and agree to our cancellation policy.

To reserve your spot, a 20% deposit is required. This goes toward your total payment. The remaining balance is due six weeks before the program start date.

If you cancel more than 45 days before the program begins, you’ll receive trip credit that can be used toward any future SYB trip within 12 months.

If you cancel within 45 days, your payment is non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions.

We do not offer refunds for any reason. Travel insurance helps protect your investment if anything unexpected happens. It’s worth it.

We stay at Villas Playa Maderas, a private villa community just above the beach.

All rooms are air-conditioned and located within a gated property with 24-hour security. Each room also includes a safe for your valuables. You’ll be spread across a few nearby villas, with shared kitchens and comfortable spaces, all within a short walk of each other.

The property includes:

  • Two infinity pools
  • Surf-view yoga decks
  • A large jungle gym
  • Plenty of quiet corners to relax

We’ve been coming here since 2015. It’s safe, welcoming, and always feels easy to settle into.

Welcome to Nicaragua, Surf Camp style.

This is a week built around one thing, getting in the water as much as possible and actually improving.

You arrive, we pick you up, and head straight to Villas Playa Maderas. Once you’re settled, it’s a quick intro, board setup, and usually a first session or at least time by the ocean to get oriented.

From there, the rhythm becomes simple and consistent.

Mornings start early with coffee and a light bite, then straight into a surf session when conditions are best. Coaching is hands-on and tailored, whether you’re learning the basics or working on turning, positioning, and wave selection.

After surf, it’s breakfast and time to reset. Midday is for recovery, optional workouts, mobility work, or just relaxing by the pool.

In the afternoons, you’ll often head back out for a second session. This is where things start to click. More reps, more confidence, and more time actually applying what you’ve learned.

Evenings are easy. Group dinners, time to unwind, and early nights when you want them. Nothing forced, just a steady flow that lets you stay consistent all week.

Because you’re in one place the entire time, everything feels simple. No packing, no moving around, just surf, recover, repeat.

By the end of the week, most people notice real progress. More confidence in the water, better positioning, and a much clearer understanding of how to surf.

You leave tired in a good way, and a lot better than when you arrived.
