Memorial Day 2027 is Monday, May 31. SYB's group week in the Sahara in Morocco runs May 25 to 31, 2027: six nights of dunes, camels, ATVs and a desert camp, and you fly home on the holiday.

When is Memorial Day weekend in 2027?

Memorial Day is Monday, May 31, 2027. The long weekend runs Saturday, May 29 to Monday, May 31.

Does SYB run a trip over Memorial Day weekend?

Yes. Desert Dopeness is a group week in the Sahara in Morocco from May 25 to 31, 2027. It runs six nights and ends on Memorial Day.

How many vacation days does it take?

Four, if you have Memorial Day off: Tuesday, May 25 to Friday, May 28. You need to be at Casablanca airport by 3pm on Tuesday, May 25, which for most US travelers means an overnight flight on Monday, May 24. You fly home on Memorial Day itself.

How much does it cost?

From $2,950 per person in a shared spot, which is a twin room or tent, or $3,650 for a private one, for 6 nights. The two flights inside Morocco are in the price. International flights are extra. A 20% deposit holds your spot and the rest is due six weeks before the trip.

Which airport do I fly into?

Casablanca (CMN). Be there by 3pm on May 25. The group flies together to Errachidia at 10pm, and that flight and the one back are included. Hold off on booking your international flights until SYB emails you that the trip is confirmed. On May 31 the flight back lands in Casablanca at 7:30am, so book your flight home for noon or later.

Is it all desert, or is there a beach?

It is all Sahara. There is no beach and no surf on this trip. The week is dunes, camels, ATVs, sandboarding, a desert camp and two theme parties.

Where do we sleep?

The plan is one night at a hotel in Errachidia, three nights at a lodge beside the dunes in Merzouga with a pool and A/C, and two nights at a tented camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes with real beds and private bathrooms with hot showers.

What happens if I have to cancel?

Cancel more than 45 days before the trip starts and everything you have paid becomes trip credit, good toward any SYB trip within 12 months. Inside 45 days, payments are non-refundable. Travel and medical insurance is required.
