What kind of trip is this?
Reset & Recharge is SurfYogaBeer’s most intentional and transformative experience. Set in a private villa overlooking the waves of Playa Maderas, this 15-day journey blends structure with freedom, work with play, and discipline with joy. It’s for entrepreneurs, creatives, remote workers, and anyone ready to hit pause and build momentum in their life.
What’s a typical day like?
Mornings start with grounding practices: meditation, journaling, movement, and chef-prepared breakfasts. Then we shift into flow, whether that’s deep work hours, quiet creative time, or outdoor adventures. Afternoons bring beach walks, surf, massages, or rest. Evenings are a chance to reconnect as a group: sunsets, bonfires, accountability circles, and playful nights under the stars.
Can I still work remotely?
Yes, and many do. We’ve carved out focused deep work hours so you can move forward with projects or stay in sync with your job. It’s one of the few trips where growth and productivity are the point.

What’s the big takeaway?
Balance. Routine. Clarity. This trip helps you reset how you live, so you can return home with more focus, more energy, and more alignment than ever.
Which airport
Two options. Managua, Nicaragua (MGA) is about a 2.5 hour drive to the villas and it is the easy one. Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) is about a 3 hour drive plus a land border crossing into Nicaragua, so give yourself extra time if you go that way.
If the fares are close, fly into Managua.
Getting in
Try to land at either airport by 2:00 PM on arrival day. Airport transfers are arranged through us, so put your flight details on the check-in form and we’ll have someone waiting for you. A private transfer runs $125 to $200 per vehicle depending on the airport and the time of day, and each car fits three people with luggage, so it splits well if a few of you land together.
Heading home
Do not book anything departing before 12:00 PM, out of either airport. If you need to fly earlier than that, it is still doable, we’ll just set up a private shuttle for you at your own cost.
We’ll also help coordinate trusted taxis and group rides so you can share costs with other trip-goers via the group chat. Easy, safe, and way more fun than riding solo.
If you come through Liberia
The border at Penas Blancas is US cash only, cards do not work there. Budget about $14 to get into Nicaragua and about $4 on the way out, in small bills. Every bag comes off the vehicle for the crossing and it is about a half mile walk between the two checkpoints, so pack something you can carry.
Not sure which airport to pick, or what the Liberia border crossing actually involves? The whole journey is written up in our guide to getting to Playa Maderas.
For US passport holders it is a basic tourist visa you pay for on arrival. Nothing to apply for in advance, just bring cash.
On any other passport, check your own country’s requirements before you book. Not every passport has it as easy as the US one and some need paperwork sorted in advance.
One thing they will ask for at the airport is a flight out of the country. Have it saved on your phone. If your flight home leaves from another country, be ready to show how you are getting to that airport too.
Make sure your passport has at least six months left on it.
Plans change, we get it. Cancel more than 45 days before the trip starts and 100% of what you've paid, deposit included, becomes trip credit you can use toward any SYB trip within 12 months.
To reserve your spot, a 20% deposit is required. It goes toward your total, and the remaining balance is due six weeks before the trip starts.
If you cancel within 45 days of departure, your payment is non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions, and we do not offer cash refunds for any reason.
Travel and medical insurance is required, and you must secure it before joining the program. It's the best way to protect your investment if life happens. Worth it.
We’re based in Playa Maderas, about 15 minutes north of San Juan del Sur on Nicaragua’s Pacific coast. This area is surrounded by lush jungle, dramatic cliffs, and beautiful beaches, with some of the best surf in the world and unforgettable sunsets.
Playa Maderas was once a small fishing village. Today, it’s a peaceful and laid-back surfer’s paradise, perfect for disconnecting and recharging.
Our Reset & Recharge trip kicks off on January 2, 2027, when you’ll check into your villa in Playa Maderas and meet the crew for your first sunset hang.
The trip wraps up on the morning of January 16, 2027. If you’ve pre-booked airport transfers, we’ll coordinate your ride back to Managua Airport.
Yes. Every morning you’ll have a chef-prepared breakfast with fresh juices, smoothie bowls, eggs, and a full spread of local favorites. Eight dinners are also included, featuring healthy and delicious meals made with locally sourced ingredients.
You’ll have unlimited access to coffee, water and tea at the villas. For other meals, you’re free to explore local restaurants or cook something up at the house with your crew.
We have a trusted local taxi service available to book, and our leaders will connect everyone during orientation. A ride into town typically costs $15 to $25 per car, depending on the time of day.
We’ll also be doing town runs with our six-seater ATVs. Riding through the jungle with your crew is an experience in itself.
All rooms are air-conditioned, located in a gated community with 24-hour security, and have a safe for valuables.
Our villas are all within walking distance and feature multiple rooms, kitchens, and plenty of space to relax. The property includes a massive jungle gym, two surf-view yoga decks, two infinity pools, and hidden corners to explore and enjoy.
We have been coming here since 2016 and have never had any issues. No strangers wandering around, no worries about leaving phones or laptops out. It is safe, beautiful, and very sexy.
After booking, you’ll be invited to our private SYB Facebook Group for this trip. It’s the spot to connect with others, ask questions, get answers, and chat directly with your trip leaders before arrival. It’s where the vibe starts.
Every morning around 6 to 6:30am, we meet at the yoga sky deck to watch the sunrise together. We’ll guide a short group meditation, offer a few journaling prompts, and invite space to share, only if you feel like it.
It’s totally optional, but this quiet ritual helps set the tone for your day and create a routine that aligns with the best version of you. Think of it as your daily reset before the world wakes up.
You’ll have Spanish lesson right at the villa with Mariel, owner of the beloved local Spanish school in San Juan Del Sur. Lessons are tailored to your level and scheduled around your availability.
Want to go beyond the basics? We’re happy to help you set up extra sessions. ¡Vamos!
After meditation, journaling, and a couple cups of coffee, we hit our private jungle gym around 7am for a group workout. From strength training to mobility, we mix it up daily to challenge every level and every muscle group. Yes, there’s a pull-up bar. Yes, we dare you to set a wild goal. We’ll help you hit it.
🏃♂️ Runners: We’ve got scenic trails for days. Lace up and explore.
🏊 Swimmers: Bring goggles! Ocean swims are our secret recovery weapon.
🧘 Yogis: Sunset yoga sessions on the sky deck are always a favorite. We’ll find a time that works for the group.
This is where the body gets strong and the mind gets clear.
We highly recommend having travel medical insurance, just in case. If anything comes up, our trip leaders will help get you to a nearby clinic or hospital right away.
We also offer an optional $50 add-on called Nicaragua Medical Care. It gives you access to our trusted local doctor, Dr. Norlan, who can be at the villa within 30 to 60 minutes. This covers up to 3 house calls for common issues like dehydration, stomach bugs, cuts, bites, and more. You’ll only pay for any medications needed.
Peace of mind in paradise. 🙌
Fast. Reliable. Everywhere. Our internet clocks in at 200+ Mbps, with dedicated WiFi in every villa, by the pools, and on the yoga deck. There’s also a backup line in case of outages, because we know some of you are taking Zoom calls from paradise.
No stress, we’ve got backup on backup. If the main WiFi goes down, we have a second internet line ready to switch over. Still need more? We’ll have LTE data on hand for tethering, so your calls and work stay uninterrupted!
Yep, your room gets cleaned every day, except Sundays (even housekeepers need a reset!). Fresh towels, tidy space, good vibes. You just focus on living your best life.
Included in your trip is are three 30-minute massages and trust us, after a tough workout or surf session, you’ll be counting the minutes. Our massage team comes straight to the villa, and you can book a time that fits your schedule.
Want more? You can upgrade to a more than an hour or add on a manicure or pedicure for some extra pampering.
Expect warm weather day and night. You’ll want swimsuits, activewear, lightweight clothes, and something you don’t mind sweating in or jumping into the ocean with. Maybe bring a light sweater if you’re planning to stargaze at 1am, but you likely won’t need it.
And yes, we’ll hook you up with exclusive SYB swag when you arrive. It’s the kind of thing you’ll end up living in the whole time.
Yes, we’ve got laundry covered. You can get your clothes washed for $5 per bag (up to 5 lbs). Just drop it off, and we’ll get it back to you clean and fresh!
The local currency is the Nicaraguan Córdoba, but most places accept US dollars. We recommend bringing $300 to $400 in cash for things like bar tabs and a few meals out. Most other expenses are covered.
Alcoholic drinks usually cost between $6 and $12 USD. Playa Maderas does not have any ATMs, and many places charge a 5 to 6 percent fee for card payments, so it’s best to bring your cash with you before arriving.
Motivated, real, supportive, and fun. You’ll be surrounded by people who are here to grow, move, connect, and laugh. Expect deep conversations, spontaneous adventures, and a community that feels like instant family. You’ll leave recharged, inspired, and more grounded than when you arrived.
Open days are all about adventure, exploration, and connection. We’ll head out for boat trips, zip-lining, horseback riding, and exploring the town of San Juan Del Sur. One of the most meaningful days includes giving back to the local community by delivering supplies to families in need.
Playa Maderas is considered one of the safest areas in Latin America, but like anywhere, petty crime can happen. We recommend not carrying all your valuables with you when you’re out and about.
Our villas have safes where you can securely store passports, cash, and anything important. It’s always better to leave the flashy stuff at home. This trip is more about barefoot vibes than blinged-out fits.
Not at all. Everything is optional. This is your reset, and you get to choose how you show up. Whether you’re all in every day or need time to chill and recharge, everything we offer is designed to support your growth, at your pace.
Absolutely, and we actually recommend it.This trip is your chance to show up as your truest, most adventurous self. No baggage, no expectations, no old routines. When you come solo, you open yourself up to deeper connections, new experiences, and a crew that becomes instant family. We totally get that it can feel intimidating at first, but trust us, this is the best way to do it. Most of our guests come solo, and by day one, you won’t feel that way anymore.
This trip is for entrepreneurs, remote workers, creatives, and anyone ready to reset. Whether you’re on a sabbatical, launching something new, or just feeling burned out, this experience gives you the space, structure, and support to get back in alignment.
This trip is about more than just adventure. It’s nearly a month of structure, intention, and space to work on yourself. You’ll come in with a goal, personal, professional, or physical, and have the time, support, and routine to actually make it happen. It’s transformation, not just vacation.
Yes. You can leave your phone in your bag and stay present while a professional photographer and videographer capture every moment. From sunrise workouts to beach adventures and late-night laughs, you’ll get high-quality content without lifting a finger.
And yes, it’s all included in your trip. Your post-trip photo dump is going to break the group chat.
