Sail the Greek Islands

Eight days on our own catamarans in the Greek islands, and the only way to really see them: from the water. We board in Athens on Saturday, cast off by 4pm and drop anchor in a quiet bay by sunset, and everyone jumps in.

From there it is Poros and a full ATV day, Spetses, Porto Heli, a ridge hike on Dokos and our famous Boat Crawl, where every boat throws its own party, then Hydra and Toga Night. On Friday we are back in Athens before sunset for our last dinner, the SYB awards and the Athens party scene.

Home is a Lagoon 46 catamaran: four double cabins with their own bathroom, air con at night, Wi-Fi, a full kitchen, a paddleboard, a sea scooter and a deck made for sleeping under the stars. A local captain sails every boat and an SYB leader runs the fun. You are not the crew, just a good crewmate.

Trip Notes

Eight days, seven nights on our own Lagoon 46 catamarans in the Saronic Gulf, Saturday to Saturday. We board in Athens, cast off by 4pm and drop anchor by sunset for the first swim of the week.

From there: Poros and a full ATV day, Spetses, Porto Heli, a ridge hike on Dokos and the Boat Crawl, then Hydra and Toga Night. On Friday we are back in Athens before sunset, spend the last night on the boats in port, have our last dinner and awards, and hit the Athens party scene. Off the boat by 10am Saturday.

GETTING THERE: Fly into Athens (ATH) and land by noon on Saturday. Our shuttle leaves the airport at 12 sharp for the marina, included. Land later and you will need to get to the marina yourself, and we are happy to book you a private transfer at an extra cost.

GETTING HOME: Everyone is off the boat by 10am on the last Saturday, and the airport taxi leaves the port at 10am, included. Book flights home from about 1pm.

Please wait for your booking confirmation before you buy flights, then send us your flight details.

We sail two Lagoon 46 catamarans, Galaxy (2022) and Mary Grace II (2024). Catamarans are much more stable than sailboats, so they are more comfortable for cruising, sailing and sleeping.

Each boat has four double cabins with a private bathroom and shower, air conditioning that runs up to 6 hours a night, Wi-Fi, a full kitchen with fridges, a shaded cockpit, a paddleboard and a sea scooter. Plenty of people sleep on the deck above their cabin under the stars at least once.

Every cabin has one double bed. Book it for yourself, or add a plus one to your cabin for $800.

Catamarans are steadier than sailboats and the Saronic Gulf is sheltered water, so most people feel nothing. If you are prone to it, bring non-drowsy tablets or sea bands and tell your leader. We sail mostly in the mornings and spend afternoons at anchor.

Bring euros. Plenty of island spots are cash only and ATMs can be far from where we anchor, so withdraw before the trip. Plan for meals out in port, drinks, the booze you want on the boat, and a tip for your captain at the end of the week.

Every boat has a local captain who does the sailing and knows every cove, and an SYB leader who runs the itinerary, the photos, the workouts and the activities. By the end of the week they feel like family. Please bring cash to tip your captain.

We include 3 breakfasts, light lunches, 3 dinners on the boat and 2 group dinners out. The rest of the time we are in port, in Porto Heli and a few others, heading out for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

There is no chef on board. Your leader takes the lead on meals and we ask everyone to lend a hand, so they are not doing all of it. You are not the crew, just a good crewmate.

We do not provide alcohol. We stop where everyone can load up on whatever they like to drink, and the fridges keep it cold.

Our captains know these waters and will move the plan around the wind. The order of the islands can change, and the vibe does not.

Morning workouts on deck or on the beach, island hikes on Dokos and Hydra, and more swimming, paddling and snorkelling than you can count. Everything is optional, but the morning session is the best way to start the day.

Your boat leader is in charge of photos and video all week, so you can stay off your phone and still go home with the best photo dump of your life.

We highly recommend travel and medical insurance, just in case.

Athens, Poros, Spetses, Porto Heli, Dokos, Hydra and back to Athens, with swim stops in empty coves along the way. The wind gets a vote, so the captains may shuffle the order.

Greece is a very safe country to travel. Keep an eye on your things in busy parts of Athens, and use the boat safe for anything valuable while we are out exploring.

Soft bags only (no hard suitcases on a boat), swimwear for days, a white sheet for Toga Night, an outfit for the last night in Athens, reef-safe sunscreen, sea bands if you need them, and a light layer for evenings on deck.
