Not A Vacation. A Reset.

bring your own laptop

Slow travel is the long stay version of an SYB trip. You keep the job, the clients, the deadlines. You change the desk, the routine, and the people around you. Two weeks in one place, not five countries in seven days.

Mornings are for movement and deep work. Afternoons are for the ocean. Evenings are for the crew. We handle the villas, the wifi, the food, and the plan, so the only thing you have to figure out is what you actually want next.

Work

200+ Mbps wifi with a backup line, dedicated deep work hours, and desks with an ocean in the window. Zoom calls survive just fine.

🌊

Move

Sunrise journaling, jungle gym workouts, yoga decks, trail runs, and surf lessons. Optional, always. Habit forming, usually.

🍺

Connect

Chef dinners, bonfires, theme parties, and accountability check ins with people building things. Strangers do not stay strangers.

We Believe In Balance.

both, not either

  • Work, but make time to live fully.
  • Play, while honoring your purpose and responsibilities.
  • Indulge, but prioritize your health.
  • Meditate, then crank up the dance music.
  • Learn stories, and create your own.
  • Surf the sunrise, then toast the sunset.

A Day In The Slow Lane.

sunrise to sunset

  • 6:00 amOptional sunrise journaling and meditation on the yoga deck. Set the goal, say it out loud, or just watch the sky.
  • 7:00 amJungle gym workout. Strength, mobility, whatever the day calls for. Finished with an ocean dip.
  • 8:30 amDeluxe healthy breakfast and smoothie spread, made by our chef, eaten with the crew.
  • 9:00 amDeep work hours. Fast wifi, quiet corners, and nobody guilting you for being on a call.
  • 4:00 pmUniversal sign to put your feet in the sand. Surf lineup, infinity pool, or the beach bar.
  • 7:00 pmGroup dinner, then a bonfire, a theme party, or a town run. Or an early night. Nothing is mandatory.

Where We Go Slow.

playa maderas, nicaragua

Right now slow travel lives in Nicaragua, in a private gated beachfront compound 15 minutes north of San Juan del Sur. Two infinity pools, two surf view yoga decks, a jungle gym, and some of the best waves in Central America out front. We have been running trips here since 2015.

The next one is Reset & Recharge, January 2 to 16, 2027. Fourteen nights, one cohort, shared rooms from $2,850 and private rooms from $4,100. Every SYB date lives on the trip calendar, and if you want a shorter taste first, the best time to visit Nicaragua is worth a read.

Real Questions.

no dumb questions

💻Can I actually get work done?
Yes, and most people get more done than they do at home. The villas run 200+ Mbps with a dedicated backup line and LTE on hand for tethering, so calls and uploads hold. Deep work hours are built into the schedule and protected by the group, roughly from after breakfast until the sun drops around 4pm.
📅How long is a slow travel trip?
Two weeks. The next one, Reset & Recharge, runs January 2 to 16, 2027, which is 15 days and 14 nights in Playa Maderas, Nicaragua. Long enough to build a routine, short enough that you do not have to quit anything to come.
💰What does it cost and how do I pay?
Shared rooms start at $2,850 per person, private rooms with a desk, A/C and your own bathroom start at $4,100. You book with a 20% deposit and the balance is due six weeks before departure. Cancel more than 45 days out and your money becomes trip credit for a future SYB trip.
👤Can I come alone?
Most people do, and we recommend it. This crew is mostly solo travelers in their late 20s to early 40s: founders, freelancers, creatives, and remote employees. By day one you will not feel solo. Couples and friends are welcome too.
🏠Where do I sleep and where do I work?
Beachfront villas inside a gated compound with 24 hour security, air conditioning, safes, and daily room cleaning. Work happens wherever you want it to: a desk, a yoga deck, a shaded table by the pool, or the beach bar when the day is done.
🧘Do I have to do everything?
No. Every workout, surf lesson, Spanish class, meditation and party is optional. Some people go all in from day one, some sleep through the 6am sessions all week. Both are correct.
